Writing and the Rubik’s Cube

Okay so I’m having a hard time drawing a coloration between creative writing and the rubik’s cube.  There is something magical to me about the cube and solving it.  Not magical in the sense that you have to have some hidden otherworldly talent, but magical in the sense that it CAN be solved and there is a method to how you do it.

For me that method, the method that allows anyone who follows it to create something magical, is what excites me.  Writing is like that for me.  I know you need to have some talent thrown in there too.  But you need a good brain in your head too, if you want to solve a rubik’s cube.

So there.  My analogy to writing and the rubik’s cube.  Me and my analytical brain will leave you with the following youtube video from Dan Brown (I couldn’t help but laugh at that either!) He put together a great set of videos on how to use a couple algorithms to solve the six sided puzzle.  Good luck with solving all the puzzles in your life!

Kitties, Kris and Kleaning?

I just wanted to post a quick shout out to everyone and let them know about 2 awesome interviews with my critique partner Kris.

Cambria Dillon has interviewed Kris in a series of Agent-sisters interviews this week.  Cambria is also hosting some fabulous giveaways this week.  Definitely worth checking out!

Nothing is more thrilling than seeing your critique partners name on a blog feed that you frequent for writing/querying research.  I mean really, THERE she is in bold Times Roman on my feeds list.  How cool is that?? So by all means check out Casey’s Literary Rambles and her interview with Kris!

I couldn’t leave this blog post without some seriously cuteness.  My family adopted 2 kittens last week and although they are a handful together, they are just about the craziest, cutest kitties around.  May I introduce Arnold and Rissa:

Rissa and Arnold

Per my title I forgot to mention Kleaning…. yeah.  House cleaning.  It’s happening, even if I don’t want to do it.  It is spring and all… out with the old dust in with the fresh air… even if it is still COLD. :)    Have a great day!

Congratulations to Kris!!

Congratulations are in order for my wonderful critique partner Kristine Asselin who recently acquired representation for her novel Sweet Spot.

I can’t help but feel proud of her accomplishment.  I’ve seen this story go from a published article to a full novel over the course of our first year critiquing together with Laura Pauling and Jennifer Carson.  I’ve seen all the hard work she put into making this novel a reality.

Sweet Spot is an awesome story and I can’t wait to see it in print!!!

Kris is celebrating on her blog with some great giveaways!  Go. Visit. Congratulate the girl for working so very hard to make her dream come true.
